Choosing Healthcare Insurance Coverage in 2017
Do you find yourself on the brink of choosing healthcare insurance coverage? Trying to sort through all the different options can take a lot of time! When you add in premiums, deadlines, networks and stipulations, it can seem downright exhausting. At the Paige Agency, we like to make choosing the right insurance coverage as simple and understandable as possible.
Medicare Insurance Coverage
If you have not looked recently at the Medicare Part C plans, you may want to see what they look like for 2017. You may be able to save some money in premium costs; Just make sure you understand the pros and cons of switching!
From October 15 to Pearl Harbor Day (Dec 7) is the time for people who already have Medicare Part D and Part C plans to be looking at their current plans and their choices for 2017. The plans are very competitive and can change quite a bit from year to year. The plan you had for 2016 may not be your best choice for 2017. Take the time to reevaluate what you want and what needs you currently have.
Obamacare Insurance Coverage
The Obamacare Open Enrollment runs from November 1 to January 31.
- If you want your 2017 plan to start for January 1, you need to sign up for it by December 15.
- If you sign up from December 16-January 15, your plan will start Feb 1.
- Sign up January 16-January 31, and your plan will start in March.
When choosing a plan, make sure your doctor is in the network and that your prescriptions are covered. If you applied for and received a Premium tax credit for 2016, make sure you reapply for 2017. If you don’t, you may face some tax ramifications with your 2017 filing.
